I loved the quote to begin this poem, I think it was the perfect accompaniment to your piece. The relatively minimal form of this worked well, I think the short lines came across as being spoken with force; while in the beginning that force came from the struggle to survive each of the last five stanzas grew in power and tone, until the wonderful conclusion which is testament to the iron will that lies within.
