HE LOVES ME SO
broken jaw swollen black eye split bottom lip
he loves me so
in a corner, I cower for protection from his clenched fists
next morning I awake in a familiar hospital emergency room
I cannot remember my own name or how I got there
he loves me so
next morning he apologizes with a dozen roses, plenty of kisses and a big box of chocolates
I go home with him and pretend to love him and to borrow precious time
he loves me so
in the middle of the night I gather a few items of clothing and whatever money I can find
As fast as I can I run out into the cold dark night to save my life
he loves me so

Having been to that place I resonate so deeply with you. It is a very bad place to be and one feels so isolated and alone. It takes a lot of courage to make the move you have and I say to you Bravo my friend. remember you are surrounded by people that if you hold out your hand it will be held! Good on you. don't go back!! it will never change. sending you love and hugs carolann
