PLACE TO BELONG - 100 word story


(Hello everyone, this was originally written for the 60 word prompt here at Echoes but I extended it a bit…let me know what you think…



Down a dark rain soaked avenue, Greg slowly walked. His overcoat flapped in the biting wind. The only sound was the echo of his boot heels on the concrete. For most of his adult life he has been alone, and tonight he was desperate to talk to someone, anyone. Lights coming from a small corner cafe caught his eye. He crossed the street, glanced through the window and saw a few people gathered at tables talking and laughing. Greg hesitated for a few minutes before going inside inside; an attractive woman sitting alone looked up from her phone and smiled.
