SHELL of MAN

heavy snowfall
mangled emotions
wrangle within
entangled mind
shell of man
broken at core
stalks up and down
darkened avenue
in search of self
and for reasons why
he leads a vacant life
misguided footsteps
weaves a sloppy trail
ice cold rain drizzles down
frigid winds stir and churn
loose change jangles
inside ragged jacket pocket
cup of warm coffee laced
with cheap whiskey
is his only meal today
