He looked down from where they'd nailed him at the people on the ground.
Some were laughing, some were crying, others didn't make a sound.
And he wondered in his sadness if it mattered that he died.
As he looked down at the madness, it was bloody tears he cried.
His God he called as he implored that this must not be in vain.
While they pierced him, grossly defiled him and filled his heart with pain.
Yet from God there was an answer that echoed through his soul.
Even as he hung there, he knew that God had made him whole.
Because he had a mission that had been given him at birth.
And he knew his sacrifice could save all those here on Earth.
Not just for a month or year but for all eternity.
Jesus died upon that cross to save both you and me!
