In a haze of bygone days feeling like I have been had.
So very down much of the time but sometimes not so bad.
In a maze of long lost days feeling quite insane.
Once in awhile I'm numb to it but mostly I'm in pain.
In a craze of yesterdays and wishing I was back.
I would surely go there but it seems I've lost the knack.
But was it really better then or was it all just dreams?
I've learned as I've grown older that it's never what it seems.
Life plays tricks and life plays pranks and living's all in jest.
And I've become a wee tad bitterer as by now you must have guessed.
My rose-tinted glasses got broken bad somewhere along those twists and turns.
And as for love, well I've found it sometimes soothes but other times it burns.
Friends may stand right by you or they might run away in fear.
Family gets their own paths to follow though you may still hold them dear.
So, many times you are alone as you're wandering down the road.
Most often looking for that someone who'll lighten up your load.
You help them and they help you or at least that's what I'm told.
And perhaps one day at that rainbow's end, you'll both find your pots of gold!

maybe one day we'll bump into each other as we both blindly walk in ever decreasing circles ............. then it'll be time for flying kites and drinking in excess

Thank you both! And to rustybroadspear, that was a most interesting, great reply and I hope we do if that's the way it all plays out my friend. What's wild is that the moment I read this it struck me how much it sounded like my college roommate, Jeff. He now lives in Florida where he's a teacher, poet and out-of-the-box thinker. He actually teaches classes to people who work in many different venues on how to think outside the box to solve work issues. I would suppose it applies to personal problems too. And Sir, you're being compared to a most fine man!
Take care, Mike

And wanderers we are --- thought stirring poem Mike, forming questions and hopes, touching and moving. May the goal appear one fine day to give us all who search, joy and peace to have reached. Blessings! Ulla xx

Thank you both. Nice to see you while I'm wandering around. One of the nicer parts of the trail!
