A True Story
A Second Chance
A pain as bright as sunlight and as sharp as stainless steel Came down across my breastbone and made me stand real still A vice as strong as the jaws of a shark pressed down across my chest And made me breathe more quickly what I thought was my last breath As I fell across the pathway and down onto the new mown grass I heard a voice deep within me say. 'Hang on the pain will pass' As soon as I opened up my eyes I thought I had come round But was looking down upon myself lying flat upon the ground I saw them load me in an ambulance, and then it all went black The next thing that I knew, I was in hospital on my back I heard the nursing sister say. 'He very nearly died' But came back to life when they laid him on his side' The filled me full of drugs and wheeled me to the theatre And opened up my chest cavity and by-passed my Aorta They sewed me back up again and wheeled me to I.C.U. Then when I came around again, it's then I really knew That I had a second chance of life thanks to a dedicated few.

johan~ OMG...did this just happen to you..or are you talking about someone else...surely you would not be able to have written this if it just happened? Like yesterday? Anyway, have never had the experience and hope I never do...but have known and taken care of others who have, even done CPR..SCARY stuff all the way around...we never know what the heart is going to do..but definitely respect it, once a person realizes that they've been given a second chance at life...and learn that life is not to be taken for granted eh?...sincerely...AM

It was my first heart attack, and yes it was true and it was utterly amazing (I can say that now)

Well, I can't believe that no one else has commented on this write...although it is very personal....we just have to get it out of our systems it seems when something traumatic happens in our lives...whether it involves us or not....Hope you doing well......AM

A very nice write. I felt it sort of a free verse piece.
