School assignment that netted an A. say what you think.
Image is everything in the modern world. There was never a truer word spoken. There is an accepted image that all but a few people build their lives around. Everyone wants to fit in; everyone wants to be “normal”. But what is normal? How can you truly define normal? Everything and everybody has the right and ability to be unique, but modern society seems to have forgotten this.
First and foremost – clothes. Shopping for clothes has become an absolute nightmare. So what if it’s the right size, colour and style for you? If it’s not in fashion then it’s out of the question. And oh my God, what in heaven’s name would you do if you met someone wearing the same top as you?! The horror, the shame! How would you ever face them again? I definitely think some people go over the top when it comes to clothes and dedication to fashion. I suppose what with me being a girl and all, you know, your typical stereotype; I should be taking the other side of the argument. But surprise . . . I couldn’t care less. They’re just clothes. Break out and be bold for God’s sake.
Also actions we take, paths we choose to walk, are forever under close scrutiny by others. I don’t understand, I mean if anyone found themselves incapable of making choices or decisions for themselves, I’m sure they would prefer to seek out the guidance of a friend or family member rather than have people making their decisions for them behind their back. And it’s not just the big things either. I was in a restaurant recently, you know, one of those self-service ones, and I thought I’d treat myself and go the whole hog with a double chocolate muffin. Anyway I was behind this really slim girl and as soon as I picked up the muffin she just gave me this look. Now there’s no way in heaven or hell that words are enough to describe this look, so I’m going to let your imagination take care of that. And let me tell you, you better have one heck of an imagination. I felt like the whole world had stopped to condemn me. I just can’t stand people like that. And did I put back the muffin? No. I paid, walked with my head held high towards a table, head held so high in fact, that I only noticed the uneven floorboards too late. **CURSE**
Also our physical image has to be absolutely perfect. And if you don’t think you’re beautiful, no problem, just have your local plastic surgeon whip out his scalpel and we’ll have you looking like Madonna in no time. And I wouldn’t mind, it’s just it seems to be an unnecessary transformation a lot of the time. I’ve seen people getting it done who are practically flawless compared to us lesser mortals. Celebrities are the worst offenders. Constantly in the limelight, mad fans mirror everything they do. So stupid. And anyway if we have learned anything from these celebrity transformations it’s that plastic surgery doesn’t seem to stand the test of time very well, actually scrap that, it doesn’t stand the test of time at all. What I would say if I could to everyone out there is that you shouldn’t try to improve on what’s already perfection in it’s own way. You’re beautiful on the inside and that’s what counts. Unless of course you’re a retired serial killer living a secret life of luxury on an island someplace, in that case you’re an ugly c**t.
So I’ve said my piece for now and after all that what it all boils down to is that when it counts, so and so isn’t going to care what you’re wearing, and the pearly gates won’t close in your face because of how rich you are or how good looking you are for your age. (And hopefully not because you once indulged in a double chocolate muffin either). Just remember the only person you have to be true to in this life is yourself. And if yourself wants a muffin then yourself gets a muffin.
