Horses. what would we do without them? I mean yes they work for us, but its so much more than that isnt it? A bond between a horse and a rider is unbreakable and its beautiful.
Hope was a sad little girl of just 8, she had long dark hair was tanned and small for her age and she had big dark eyes. Hope came from a large family and her parents scarcely let her out of her yard. She ad few friends and spent allot of her times drawing the thing she loved most, which were horses.
She was a lonely little girl and dreamt of having her own horse and fantasised of galloping threw the warm summer valleys and sitting on the highest mountain watching the sunset with her horse. On board days she found her self every horse book she could get her hands on and drawing and colouring pictures of horses of al different colours.
On her 10th birthday her parent bought her just one present, and as hope walked into the back yard led by her parents their hands over hopes eyes. She heard a low soft nickering sound and as her parents removed their hands from hopes eyes, there stood a medium sized, dark brown horse stocky and calm looking. He lifted his head and his eyes met hopes and at that moment they formed a bond so strong, it would never be broken.
Hope named the horse serine meaning a star and a protector. As the years past the bond between horse and rider grew more and more strong and hopes confidence grew and grew.
Hope grew up into a strong-hearted young lady all thanks to her best friends serine.
But when Hope was 18 she got a place in a university which mint she could no longer care for serine. She had to give up the creature she loved so much and that had taught her so much and had asked so little in return. She sent serine away to a riding school for disabled children due to his kind and gentle nature. Were he could get eh love and attention he deserved.
More and more years past and Hope grew up and started her own family. But there was always a gaping hole in her hearted were serine used to fill. Not a day went past when hope did not think of her best friend, she longed for his company and found herself wondering if he was still alive.
She decided to get a job involving horse to try and fill the gap were serine used to be. She rang a riding school for the disabled, to see if she could help children to maybe fill a gap in there hearts with the love and companionship of a horse. Leaving a message on the answering machine hope thought she was to late to get the job. but 3 days later they called back and she drove to the centre to find out more about the job.
She did not know it but this centre was the same centre she had given serine up to so many years ago. The centre was now looking for a carer to take serine to a home for his retirement at the grand age of 31. Hopes eyes filled with tears as she was told about al the lives serine had touch with his kind gentle and patient nature.
As the owner of the centre led hope to the barn a low soft nickering sound came from within, there was serine waiting to go back to his home were he had spent so many wonderful years with the little girl who had loved him more then she could say. hope ran towards her childhood companion and gently put her arm around his neck. Thinking she would never find him again hope stroked his soft warm ears and pressed her face into his shoulder. Hope took serine home again and the hole was filled with many good years of living with the horse that had made hope into a confident young lady an had touched the lives of many children at the centre.
