I'll Sing You to Sleep
Night time again… I am left here, lost… in the chain-link breath of moon, that smears its winter-kiss chill to my impish August skin. It carves a puckered tally of marshmallow moments to the willow-stained breeze of long lingering pastoral ghosts…
rustic in our scenery, each remembered moment a gift that frolics with the purity of laughing children, in this pulsing obsidian bubble
they jiggle and swirl in the scent of love's memory where you live, still within the breath of our lost summers
beneath the dappled shade of nature's sentinels we would picnic ~ our senses sated by the whisper of wildflowers and the slow waltz of the yawning clouds that drifted in perpetual heat, across a lovers' sky, as the whiff of chicken whizzing through our one track minds reminded us of another way…to be fed
it was a time we called…our eternal… and how cruel it is, my love, that I am left here, flattened in my longing, just a dandelion-smudge in the aching chink of half light
caught between the dusking invitation of this precious dream of you, and the cold hard slap of reality, as first light…trickles in.
Oh, how the sharp tang of yearning, for something more than just your memory, rests so perfectly on my rain-child tongue, as I open my mouth to the moon, and sing you to sleep…

Sa, one of the things that I find attractive about your writing is the rhythm that you set up, along with the wonderfully active imagery you use. You are a word-smith to me... a very personal, specific way of expressing yourself. great job.
