* If I could I would exchange this bleak, uneven day for one less filled with weariness. Those many thoughts of this and that and dos and don’ts that I betrayed from the moment I became aware of this existence, now permeate the peaceful mood the moment brings.
Winter scratches at my face, the warm embrace the kitchen heater breathes, this morning writing, all these things I should enjoy destroyed by childish judgments made so long ago, those ragged children from my past that drag me somewhere dark, so very dark and uninviting.
And bullets screamed in fiery voices, shadows thrown along the ground the killer lying there, the world on top of him, “Ow, ow! You’re hurting me,” the only words that he could find to justify this senseless sin. And all the pundits shake their fists, “Your fault! Their fault!” No, it’s his and his alone. He is the reaper of the bones. —rrw 1-11-11 * I started this poem last week... then Saturday happened... and I worked on the last stanza until today. I find it odd the way people deal with grief. Some weep, while others point fingers.

Like I said, That last part came about while I was writing this poem. I was listening to the news as I wrote this when the Tuscon shooting happened.

Such a nice, long and detail sharing of your thoughts, your past, are very well expressed from your words! I feel as if go through each moment with you as each word, and to contour your tip of thoughts as they rolling out beneath your pen! well put and say! very good mind, sensitive poetic statement! much enjoy it!

Yes Rob, we humans are strange when we deal with grief, I say that because I would have never believed it could happen to someone close, when it did, it affected me a lot, and I believe I'm a different person for it, better or worse, I'm not sure, but an admirable poem from you as always, interesting and debatable that makes a person think.
