She never wrote a poem, a book or a song
But just the same she'll be remembered long.
She wasn't rich in money or things
Only in true worth and what it brings
She worked not for self nor self-praise
Though she knew hard work, through long days
The oldest of several children
Early she learned home's many chores
Cooking, ironing, washing
She was busy about the house and out of doors.
Working in the fields did not hurt her pride
So she was often by they're father's side.
Her life was doing for others
Father, Mother, Sister, Brothers.
She was a people-pleaser and people lover too
The most unselfish person I ever knew
Full of energy and looking to use it for someone's good.
I just don't see how she spread herself around the way she could.
Always ready was she, to help her family others with her schemes,
For her pleasure was fulfilling others’ dreams.
After her mother went away
They still had a mother, it was Maria Alice
Mother, Sister, companion all of these was she,
And the very best of all, she love to cook.
Maria Alicia cried when others cried
Always feel in whom we all could confide.
Our happiness and tears always she knew
Our world was hers and our problems too.
Love could well have been her name
For life she was Oh! So beautiful,
Now beautiful memories linger so
Of such a thoughtful, caring person
As on life's way we go.
A precious sister, mother, daughter and wife,
Cousin, Niece and others what a great life!
A different tribe, higher strain,
Such a noble pattern for all us who remain.
Yes, Lord, Give us more people, who live this way,
But there will never be another Maria Alicia

I wrote this story because of my friend she is a Domestic Helper in Hong Kong.
And this story is dedicated to the English Filipino Community in St. Jerome's Catholic Church in Hong Kong...
