I believe that man was created in God's image, not man's. Therefore, since God is probably a spirit, it is our souls that reflect God's image.
Now, if that is true, souls are immortal; that is to say they represent a continuous life encompassing both the mortal years and the endless time thereafter.
So, now I go further and state that our soul is, in reality, our conscience. It is that non-corporeal, built in guidance system, that urges us to do some things and to forgo others. It is here that I dismiss all rationalization of personal action. We must accept responsibilty for every deed. It wasn't alcohol, a bad childhood, or fate, that made us what we are, it was ourselves, we are actualized through the choices that we make.
What then is heaven and hell? I posit that they are states of mind that occur after death when we at first, and at last, see ourselves for what we really are. As we choose our actions while alive, so then, we administer our own torment, both in life and thereafter! Those who are evil suffer the torment of the realization that they made evil choices.
God, having created us, sees His work done. He gave us a conscience and made us a true turnkey operation! This is the answer to "How can God allow evil to exist?"!
But are we left, then, to an eternity of self inflicted torment? Is there no second chance? Can there be no redemption?
Tune in again, same board, same forum, when I discuss reincarnation.

There's redemption when the good outweighs the bad and when we allow ourselves to forgive and be forgiven. Great intelligent write! I loved every thought expressed. Especially this

Excellent!

We all have different belief systems...I found yours to be an interesting take, some of which I agree with such as the following
"So, now I go further and state that our soul is, in reality, our conscience. It is that non-corporeal, built in guidance system, that urges us to do some things and to forgo others. Thank you for sharing your insight....MJ

We are all an aspect of God, yet we are not nor can ever be wholly God.
I believe we are in a sou evolution so to speak.
Or at least we have lessons to learn and if, if fact, we learn them, we can evolve.
I don't know that I adhere to any particular "religion", be it Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Muslim, etc.
In the beginning there was God and in the "end" there will be God.
To try to come up with all of the answers to life and death and the world beyond, with our infinitesimal little minds is ludicrous. The wisest thing a man can say is "I don't know"!
Become aware of each and every moment, the people and the situations around you, and what you can learn from them. Also, Do unto others as you would have them do untio you.
I really believe we complicate matters. It really is as simple as LOVE.

Hi all-I believe because we live and breathe, that a God or a Higher power other than ourselves does exist...I have too always felt that when I look into other's faces, I see the face of God....simply because I believe that he created all creatures and human beiings...I mean look at the beauty that is our earth...created by a heavenly force, natures force...from somewhere? Although I'm not an avid reader of the Bible and don't attend church reguarly, I do worship in my own way through the joys of nature. I believe that love is not always just a feeling we might have, but it is an action or how we behave towards others on this earth. God is Love and Love is God, Life is about living, loving ourselves and other's. I heard someone say once that "it does not matter who we love, but that we love". So I've taken the saying up for mysellf as well...it just makes so much sense to me anyway, if you think about it..
I have had my struggles with the theory of evolution though and believe it should be taught in our schools only due to the unknown and so many including myself wonder how we all got here and even why we exist at all..because we really do not know...I guess...but anyway...this is my take on the whole subject, just thought I would share.
