Naomi Long Madgett is my favorite from this list. I discovered her just lsat year. She has been writing for decades. I really love her work!

 I love all the poets on this list, but my overall favorite author and poet is Dr. Maya Angelou. She was the inspiration for me to begin writing. And to this day she is a major inspiration for me to keep writing

some of these poets, I have never heard of and there are many great poets on the list, but my fav is Maya!

it was tough to pick just one, but Sonia Sanchez's poetry speaks to me on a level slightly above the rest lsited here
