Thanks Lisa! I have a wonderful nephew that also plays ball in the NBA. Will post him in the near future. I wanted 2 share this nice rejection letter with ALL! What a great letter! Dear Evelyn - and Dontay: Congratulations on the manuscript for Dontay's Alphabet Book of Color which you recently submitted to Red Deer Press. As you may know, Red Deer is a small Canadian publishing house that normally does around ten books a year for young readers, ranging from picture books to fiction for a range of ages, with the odd non-fiction project thrown in. We receive several hundred manuscripts a year, and we also continue to work with the talented writers and illustrators who have collaborated with us in the past. So it's always challenging to choose the projects that are going to work for our publishing program. I enjoyed the wit in the writing of this book - and I was very impressed by the focus on African/American persons to represent each of the letters in the alphabet. Unfortunately, we do not have room in our program for this project right now - we're booked up for the next three years. But I want Dontay to know that I'm impressed by the achievement of this book. I hope it finds a publishing home somewhere - and I'm sure Dontay has launched a lifetime writing habit! Thank you for thinking of Red Deer for this.
