Author's Dedication - This poem is dedicated with tenderness to Braden and Charles Powell and their mother, Susan. As for Josh Powell, may the man burn in Hell for a lot longer than he burned in his home! And may people who need help get it!
C'mon now little fellows, you know you're talking bunk. Tell me, how could Daddy love you and put Mommy in the trunk?
OK my sweet, small children, let's all go out and play. Oh, that hatchet in the corner, well, that's for another day.
I won't let my in-laws get you my cute and precious toys. So, I'll do what I have to with you two darling boys.
Now your mother's gone away and you guys belong to me. I'm really not a bad man, look at my smile, you see?
Ah yes, those cans of gasoline, guess we'll have ourselves a fire. Let's all roast some weenies lads, no, it's not a funeral pyre.
I love you and I brought you here but it's time we all must go. The flames are dancing around us and it's one Hell of a show!

With this strong poem you cause a shiver and tears well up to think that so many situations like this do happen every day with always the innocent made suffering. On the other side how deep the desperation to get to the point of such actions... A very touching write, thank you Mike. Ulla xx

This is from a recent incident in Seattle, Washington. A father killed his two little boys with a hatchet and then burned down the house. Circumstances point to the very likely probability that he had killed their mother some time before that. I will never understand the depth of insanity and evil someone must sink to in order to murder "loved ones", especially children. Yet this happens all too often in this sad, sick world! Thank God there are also people like you around my friend! Bless you, Mike

Ya, I was horrified by that one too, Mike. How sick has the world become when fathers feel this is the only answer to problems. Thanks for putting this out there, hugs-Jan

it is a deeply sad situation when a parent takes the life of children with them, it was a selfish act to deny the grandparents to raise their daughters children and give them a normal and happy home. it is also sad when people who need help with a mental disorder fail to recognize the situation or recognize it and are afraid to get help because people send the message that it is not an acceptable condition....most people are not strong enough to seek help when they need it or admit that they do need help....then someone suffers from that and a lot of times it is family members who dont deserve to have that happen...what a sad and wicked world we now live in....

Thank you both! Somewhere, way, way deep inside I do feel some measure of sympathy and sadness for this man. As the father of three children (the eldest two boys), it hurts me deeply that he'd get to this point. And having worked as long as I have in Social Work, I do know there are sick people out there. But at times the horror and outrage gets in the way of feeling any empathy. And for me this is 99% one of those times. All indications point to this man having killed his wife. Then killing his sons as authorities are zeroing in on that and he doesn't want his in-laws to get them. To me that's past insane and on into evil approaching demonic. I can't feel much sorrow for him but I feel tons for his wife, his in-laws and those two, sweet, little boys. All they wanted to do was love him and what did they get in return! How could he violate that love and innocent trust? Sometimes I think that even with all the help out there, the decent people, the healers that care and try to deal with it all, this world and many of the people in it are descending into madness! That really frightens me! Guess I should pray more!
Take care, Mike
