His father expected a tiny, tough fighter. The way it began couldn't have made him more righter. His mother saw an angel lying peaceful at rest. She smiled down at him as she offered her breast. On the one hand a baby who looked most serene. On the other, a warrior, one strong, little Marine. For he'd come to us early, his patience worn out. And it sounded like "Oorah!" in his first, lusty shout. Born into a world that was messed up by men. What a way my dear friends for a life to begin. Yet with love and with courage he'll face each new day. His parents and others will show him the way. Perhaps things aren't perfect but we'll make it all good. And he'll grow in our care and fight hard like he should. Michael "Proud Grandpa" Gallatin Here's to you grandson!

This sweet little Angel will be a fighter by all means. We know that the following generations are of the "Indigo Children" and they will begin to make a change to the world. This can only be of a good and hopeful future! Congratulation Mike, may you be filled with the love and joy your grandson brings! Ulla xx

Sometimes "we" picture angels in battle gear as they fight demons on our behalf. That's Austin, part angel, part warrior. There's a beautiful but very sad song by an American country singer, Tim McGraw. The song is called "If You're This". It's from a dead soldier to his loved ones. One part is to his wife and about the daughter he'll never see. It goes; "I hope she looks like you. I hope she fights like me. And stands up for the innocent and the weak." I have a strong feeling that's AJ only, thank God, his Dad is still alive! God bless, Mike

mike - Congrats on your grandpahood. I enjoyed this piece very much, being a gramps myself with some of the warrior still left within for teaching the young 'uns. It's amazing what grandpas know. This was a heart warmer. Namyh

Thank you both and glad you two enjoyed this poem. My Dad was the warrior (Army, WWII) and my son (Marines, Operation Iraqi Freedom). As the hippies used to say, I'm a lover, not a fighter. But I have high respect and much love for both these fine men. I hope little Austin James has their courage, inner strength and love of country. Take care, Mike
