The Time before Christmas The nights start early and frost arrives on soft white paws I love the silence and the thoughts that lose themselves. The tender shine of candle light that surely draws me in this magic time, where joys open hearts doors. Its time for secrets, memories and a few wishes And slowly I walk back the many years that passed. When not the gifts were prior and just simple dishes made December days so rich and we were lucky kids. Here came a Christmas Angel instead of Santa Claus, with silver wings, white robe and curly blond hair. So quiet was the room, you could hear a tapping mouse We forgot to breathe just to make this magic last. The oven was hot all day with fancy bakery Still I smell the sweet and spicy fragrance in the air. While we sat with glowing cheeks over some embroidery, a little plate of cookies on the table just for us to please. Advent so finds me dreaming of freedom and of peace, of carefree days when laughter filled our childhood life. Bare legs and wire-haired skirt in snow, not wrapped up in soft fleece And hardly ill we made of every day the uppermost. Starry December nights appear so mystified and blue Days hurry by but life in fact will briefly slow... Hearts are longing, good friends are calling out to you and Christmas dreams revive - then add to those of long ago.

Thank you Rusty, perhaps we glorify memories a little by the years adding but they surely cling to reality of yesteryear. Have a happy holiday! Ulla xx
