My window opens onto Dead Man's Cove Now the sou-west gale does blow Islands of seaweed wash against the stones I hear the wind begin to moan The hush of shingle thrown upon the shore Cottage shutters rattle on their chains Seagulls soar, thrown from the clifftops The roofing slates resound from the driving rain Lightning lights the darkened skies A lonely dog begins to howl At sea a vessel rides, bows on to the tides Such a night on Dead Man's Cove Once again the ghosts of long dead seamen, rove.

Your strong phrases almost blow like the storm-winds and it seems so real, so vivid that I felt like closing the window... Thank you Andrew for another great treat! Ursula xx

I think, Johan, one of the things I really like about your poetry is the active nature of your pieces. Something that they are drilling into my head in this writing program. This piece is full of action, sound and (if I can say so) smell. You really write from a sensory point of view.

Now, I will send an endorsement out for Andrew's soon to be published book. If you enjoyed this poem, and who would not? You all will just love his book "Diary of a Merchant Seaman" Everything in Andrew's life has brought him to this point of fine writing. You will not put this book of sea adventure down!!!! (Hope I don't get into trouble for saying this, but hey, "just sayin'"

Well done Sir and the ending line adds an eerie note to the scene. It's no wonder so many good ghost stories happen on rainy, moonlit nights! Happy Holidays, Mike
