 colored pencil art by Janet K. Brennan Scrub Jays clacking secrets, as shadows of the day trip my mood, begging gifts of pure release in my journey through a late daydream. Palmed feathers chanting of magic whisper rumors of sun drenched shores, water babies coming to visit in a shallow seaweed bay. . Another world, it was! . Made better in the desert chill, and jack frost mornings of tomorrow. Burying my toes neath feather-down. Remembering. . . quilts of powder, white laced with pearly shells and frothy tides warmed by a tangerine gem hung low beneath pillows- beige. Impatient! For that last hurrah into the sea. Rose and blue tints remain, melting across a dusky sky. Creation at its best! Leaving one thankful tear, I remember and dream. While winter birds sing through the night, and snow hugs old watermelon high. Winds skip through the canyon and sigh' sweet dreams, my friend, sweet dreams. Don't forget, there is always next year. . . |
