Dedicated to all my friends out there who've found their "kindred soul". To anyone who hasn't or did and lost them again, keep looking or cherish the memories. God bless us all as we wander around this world composing our poetic verses!
The minstrel wandered here and there, trying to go most everywhere.
He was searching for a new tune to play and so he roamed far day by day.
He looked at birds and heard their trill but he'd done that before though he loved it still.
Then a babbling brook both deep and long, yet he'd written that once in a song.
So many things, so many places and so much beauty in so many faces.
But when he saw her, he was frozen and knew this was the one he'd chosen.
She was as dark as he was fair and his heart rejoiced to see her there.
Hair like cascading waves of night though her eyes shown with a starish light.
The minstrel had found a kindred soul and no more would travel pole to pole.
She smiled and his heart just glowed as his spirit filled and overflowed.
In his lady's eyes was love and peace and so much hope that doubt did cease.
To answer her a tune he played, strumming his lute and there he stayed.

I know my dear friend and I actually thought of you as I posted this and dedicated it. I was truly hoping that in your situation it might bring happy memories and not sadness, though I realize that's very bittersweet. I remain sorry for your loss as I know you are. But you know Andrew, as this poem implies, there are people never as lucky as you or I who don't ever find their "kindred soul"! Bless you friend, Mike
