As I looked out my window on a bright, Winter day, there was a man on my grass and I had to say "Hey!"
I went out and asked him about lying there on my lawn. And he replied very sadly, "I think my sleigh's up and gone!"
"But frankly I can't say I blame those reindeer one bit." "Wouldn't be surprised at all either if Mrs. Claus had a fit."
I could see very plainly he was dressed all in red. Then when he rolled over, well, I could have dropped dead.
Santa looked up at me imploringly out of his old, rheumy eyes. He said, "Don't have too much Christmas cheer if you want to be wise!"
"For I've had one too many as I know you can see." "And now I must wonder what will happen to me."
My friends, I took pity for I'd surely been there. I brought Santa inside where he found a comfortable chair.
As he sat there so grateful I said, "I know what to do!" "I'll make a huge pot of coffee and I'll give some to you."
So I did and he drank it and then sobered up good. He looked cheerful and rosy just like I think Santa should.
I admit that when we called his wife, we told her a lie. Just a small one and then he said, "Now I've got to fly!"
For the reindeer had returned and Santa climbed into his sleigh. And he laughed and said, "See you on a far better day!"

A delightful reply from a delightful lady! Thank you dear one for the kind compliments. I'm so glad you liked this. This poem I did just for fun though my wife can't picture Santa drunk and lying on the lawn. After all he is a saint and she's Catholic. But then again perhaps Santa got inebriated on Benedictine or Frangelico! Take care, Mike

Why not? Haven't had venison in awhile. When I was much younger, I had venison stew out in Denver, Colorado. It was made by a friend and had apples and onions in it. Thought that would be a strange combination of tastes but it was really good! Glad you liked my poem. Take care, Mike
