This is an essay I wrote with the purpose of expressing my views, however unpopular they may be.
I.
I don't see the cup as half full or half empty, I do however see that it's once tolerable contents have been tainted with a very potent poison as I am persistently urged to drink it. Urged by the lightless eyed drones who you would have thought died in Jonestown years ago. They're still here, and they can bring nothing but destruction in their wake. Natural disasters being blamed on homosexuality, ruthless theocracy in the middle east, brainwashed horrors in North Korea, pseudo-moralistic bandwagons, etc. These are all embarrassments that have so many minds in a destructive vice grip. If there is a morally conscious God, he is looking upon us with tears streaming, with regret of his creation.
II.
The news stations broadcast world events and domestic issues whilst telling us how we should feel about them, often with democratic/republican bias. And it's usually petty social issues such as gay marriage or abortion, as if they matter compared to larger, more devastating problems. The left and right wings are both attached to the very same dragon struggling to maintain its soar. While conspiracy theorists spout their fear of a reptilian superpower, deluding us even more. And we are to believe that one of these sources is more deceptive than the other? Many conspiracy theorists believe an alternative version of history, and refer to anyone defeating them in an argument as "sheep", even though they are being herded by the same shepherd controlling a large chunk of the world: Distraction. So what happens when distraction clashes with distraction? Do we then see the truth emerge as a phoenix rising from this global decomposition? No, refer to mathematical law, two negatives don't make a positive, they make a negative, and a rather unfortunate one as well. All that we'll find out is which lie is more preferable to fall for. Which cacophonous drivel echoes the loudest, and convinces the most? None of these hold the answer however, so we are left drifting in the void being fed nothing but morsels of half-truth. All the while, that lingering spirit of potential whole-truth beckons from the other side of infinity, to some appearing attractive as we find ourselves gravitating towards it, but to others, dangerous! Sinful!
III.
As I delve into the topic of pseudo-morality, I'd like to to take a second to explain how I define the term: Pseudo-moralists are people who will pretend to be a morally righteous person, not for the good of others, but for the heightened image it brings to their character. This nauseous way of thinking is a deceitful stab at themselves and others due to the fact that they are fully aware of the bold face lie they continue to spread. Amanda Todd's suicide, Joseph Kony's atrocities, and Trayvon Martin's murder are the most well known catalysts for a burst of pseudo-moralistic noise, with no action behind them. Amanda Todd was given messianic properties, now forgotten, and bullying continues to occur with no stricter school policies. The mission to stop Joseph Kony and the LRA turned out to be nothing more than a useless awareness campaign, funded by the shady Invisible Children. Trayvon Martin became the most recent symbol against hate crime, and I've heard him compared to Christ! His story too, was buried in the sand and replaced with typical first-world concerns. If people were truly as righteous as they claim to be, these tragic stories would not fade away so suddenly, nor would they fade with such a futile and unchanging aftereffect. People want simple answers, and easy ways to be recognized as a good person. This is evident with Breast Cancer Awareness. Everyone knows that breast cancer exists, and it will take more than donating insignificant portions and coloring the world pink to change anything. How can a woman with breast cancer not be offended by this time-wasting "awareness"? There is simply too much weightless talk, and too little action.
