rrw mentioned in a comment that winter is a prolific time for writing, the same seems to be true for me ... except when it isn't *grin. We wondered why that might be. I was thinking along the lines of the moon being closer to the planet, all that feminine energy and intuition so much nearer, so much more "in your face". Then i wondered if maybe my thinking that is what makes it so.
Experience and emotion happen all the time and yet with me, it prefers nighttime to emerge as a poem. Is that because it is quiet? Because i feel free? Not on call for work or even much loved friends and family? There is an undisturbed focus in the dark that kind of balances the frenzy and routine of day, that *hearing myself think* comes to mind.
On the other hand i have had to take up residence in the car park of the local supermarket on occasion to write something that would not let me find the cat food aisle until i got the words down ...
How about the rest of you? Special times/places/seasons for writing? Or is it an infallible mood thing?

Yeah know i was thinking that winter was more inspiring primarily Because we are more physically isolated during the winter months from other people so there is more time for interspection... But I'm finding that not to be true. I think the change to spring did throw me a bit and I couldn't write, but now I'm back in the groove! The poem I'm working on now was inspired by going to the grocery store and seeing one of my students who works there gathering carts in the parking lot! I looked at her in the the bright sunshine and thought, " God, she is so beautiful!" Nooo! I'm not hitting on my student! But i am capable of noticing beauty when I see it! I'm inspired by just riding around town on my bike and just looking at the world around me. I really make an effort to really "see" and experience all the wonderful things going on around me and in me. But the actual writing seems to go best when it's late at night. This is a neat thread, Shell. I hope more people will join in!

There is no particular season for me to write more or less. 90% of the time, I will wake from a dead sleep and start writing..It's like my poems come to me in my dreams so to speak...lol...And then there's other times when something happens in my life and I decide to write..So no, writing is not seasonal for me! Inspiration comes from many places. This really is a neat thread. I hope to see more responses!
