Hi all,

I was discussing this with some friends the other day and I was just wondering what you all think.

I myself find it to be very brutal even though I do watch it occassionaly.

I think it too brutal. I used to watch it but I can't stomach it anymore

I agree, it's too brutal for a sport. I dont even think it should be televised on free television

I certainly feel it is too violent to be a sport. I remember a few people have died after their matches.

it's like kick boxing but more brutal in my opinion, and it's usually fought in a steel cage. And the object of the fight is to brutalize your opponent until they submit.

you want a sport, don't watch some second rate pooftahs messing about in a cage. they suck.

watch kyokushinkai. the best form of karate ever. go see one of the national tournaments or even a world tournament. they are awesome. I saw the world tournament in london recently - and it was the best day out ever.

seriously, check it out. it is like kickboxing, but with discipline, technique, skill, rules, respect and traditions. it also has some of the most awesome knockouts ever.

annother difference is that karatekas actually know what they are doing. they can actually punch and kick properly. kickboxers etc can't.

plus they do breaking which is always awesome to watch - guys puttign their fists through 3 or 4 inches of solid wood. pretty cool.

Yeah Chris! Karate is so much more than kickboxing, it's such a mental discipline aswell...

i know. i think it is the mental side to it that appeals to me most and has kept me doing it for so long.
