My Two Dogs
Sophie, the West Highland Terrier left her now empty bowl and trotted to where her master was sat at the kitchen table, he was the morning paper and eating toast. Now thought Sophie, if I sit by the chair and stare hard enough he's sure to give me a small piece of that buttery toast.
At that moment, Monty, the Japanese Sheba Inu pushed past Sophie, jumped up on his masters lap, snatched a piece of toast from the plate and ran out through the dog flap into the garden.
You've no manners, barked Sophie, clambering with difficulty through the dog flap, her legs were shorter than Monty's, but with a final lunge she was through. Sophie ran towards Monty who was sat on the grass chewing with great satisfaction on the buttery toast. "Just because you're bigger than me you think you can get away with stealing food" said Sophie.
Monty still licking his lips to remove the creamy butter, said. "If your legs were longer you would do the same" turning his back, he started to strut away, his tail curled neatly on his back, totally satisfied with his one up on the little terrier.
With a growl Sophie launched herself onto his back, grabbed a lump of fur from his magnificent tail, she launched herself at the dog flap, but unknown to her, her master had put the door cover on to stop the dogs bringing mud in from the garden. With a loud thump Sophie's nose hit the flap and left her sprawled in an unlady like fashion outside the door.
Monty looked back with a smile on his face, and barked. "That will teach you a lesson" he stalked off through the flowerbeds
and laid amongst the shrubs, closing his eyes he dreamt of plates of buttery toast with butter dribbling down his chin
