Carlin was MORE than funny, he was a philosopher of our social morals and our silly belief that if we don't cuss we are somehow holy! Such a wonderful, natural wit he had for the silliness that we humans call life. It's sad in a way that we can't even relate some of his funniest comments on American life because of our fear of language. But if you ever get a chance to hear his routine on the seven words you can't say on TV, do it. Carlin and Prior were two of the most honest commentators on America that ever lived. He will be missed!

I thought he was great--a very intelligent, well-informed man. In his later uears he verged on bitterness, which I didn't like to see, but I did love his wit and cynicism.
