Spell My Name
passion like silk courses through veins dusk crawls across city streets
faded rattle train track trestle stepping over broken glass
hustle in my walk rain dust on face guided footsteps stumble forward
crossing crestfallen alleyway trying to chisel out a trail in the crumbling concrete beneath my aching feet
forgetting the letters that spell my name hoping somebody will, graciously, remember who I am before I'm gone so it all will not have been in vain

Lisa, when I first read your wonderful poem, the first line bothered me
then, I realized that "silk" is the thread and fiber of the passion that courses through your being that compels you to create...great write
